I turned 28 two days ago & I fairly sure that the U.S. gov has been aware of this potentially happening. Hey, why worry until people complain. I really don't understand the government or the American people's complaints. It's like a no interest loan & then complaining when the note is due! Nobody makes an effort to do anything until the Chinese buy more American cars than us. This country is full of some genious & ignorance. Let's enjoy before I have to enlist! Deficit? Energy consumption? What's that?

i actuallyscrolled through more opinions than i might care to do.....no....talk to the hand....are you all like investors in oil???....me i'm a waitress....had i the $'s i wouldn't have to wait tables anymore......could not we(this country) actually bring all of us to the same level of existence....my mum is blind, my dad can't walk or hear....i have to wait tables in order to see for my mum, hear for my dad, and help him walk through price chopper and wal-mart....right now, i wish Aiti(Mum) and isa(Dad) and i were lounging on some white sandy beach somewhere....my Dad fought off the Russians....my Mum saved my heart and recent history of an exiled peoples....how DO you save 10,000 years of memorabilia????....call me dumb, but haven't figured that one yet!!!....oh well...all of us in this precious country of america have been riding, flying upon the wings of those who came before us...their lives were not as comfortable as ours....they crossed oceans, deserts, mountains, wars, native language, cultural wars, famine, locust and all natural though foreign obstacles that we might even imagine......however, in this new world and this new land, there was given us some way to survive....seems to me, americans are far more cynical and negative than am i....i came here with hope...didn't have much more memories than that..........

yea oil might get steep but we americans will survive well use up every ones oil first.most of the oil rich countries are so money hungry we will be fine.

Oh, for those of you who want to demonize OPEC, I don't buy into such nonsense. OPEC is doing what our government and American companies do to everyone on this planet. They charge the maximum price they can for their product. It is OPEC's right to charge the maximum they can get for their product to pay for the many products they buy from US companies and the US government (hey, at $50 million for an American warplane, they certainly need high oil prices to keep the very profitiable American Defense industries afloat).

When people are selling their SUV's for big time losses with oil at $140 a barrel, they will find a way to use less oil if it hits $200 a barrel. I don't think oil will stay high because manys uses for oil are not basic necessities (flying on vacation, cruising, driving a SUV instead of a bicycle, not insulating their homes because it is cheaping to pay for the heating, etc.). When it is no longer affordable, people will stop buying it and prices will come back down. Other technologies that were too expensive are no longer too expensive and will also eliminate entire categories of uses for oil. One does not have to stop using oil to bring down the price of oil sharply, one only have to eliminate 10% of the need for oil and this will do the trick.

I think that last years we have been living during some kind of a "golden age" of modern history, and this time is coming to its end.
Long time without largescal wars, growing economies and improving level of life... But it is obvious that in 10-15 years we'll enter a deep energy crisis; wars and economical crisis would follow.

this is just summer ok let us wait for the winter. because in winter we use a lot off enegie in the world ok. Europe. USA. ASIA too it will be cool in the winter. Oil will be in winter high them it is now maybe it will be around <<<$200 trust me people

Here's my thought on all of this, there's tension every where, wars and rumors of wars im telling you if isreal goes to war with iran i believe the oil barrel will go up to what,i dont know who's to say but to see a $200 barrel of oil is likely, were heading for distruction
