You are proposing an inreatgted business model development methodology “lean launch pad”. This is complementary to a more classical business planning design as it often taught in business schools. I think the individuals start uppers using this pragmatic and fast response method will need more conventional managerial knowledge to grow their start up and then turn it into an SME. Preparing an optimal start up launch and then make the “start up” grow are two facets of a global process. In our Western economies increasing the number of new ventures along with an improved survival rate participates to the economic growth. This is why I think this Stanford Business School initiative led by Pr. Steve Blank is more than welcome!

I wished he wouldve addressed your point about the runners today vs. runners of the 70s instead of some anti-running shoe screed. (Not to mention that shoes are rarely marketed as ending injuries). Weight has to play a role.
