Doha (CNN) –  The building of Doha's new airport began eight years ago, in preparation for the city's rapid growth.  

It is being spear-headed by one of Doha's most influential businessmen - Akbar Al Baker. Now, as the airport nears completion, CNN's Richard Quest gets a tour.

    good to see you wore your safety equipment and set a good example to the workers who are fined huge sums of money above the meager amounts they earn for the slightest infringement. Perhaps Mr Quest should have asked some tough questions like when are you going to pay for the works? a spineless interview i am surprised there wasn't a sandal kissing ending!
