 Hong Kong (CNN) – The frayed relationship between Eduardo Saverin and Mark Zuckerberg served as the emotional core of the 2010 movie, “The Social Network.” As Zuckerberg stands to make billions from the Facebook IPO, where is his one-time friend, Saverin? For the past three years, Saverin has made Singapore his home. As the Wall Street Journal reports, the 30-year-old has become a local celebrity in Singapore, where he has provided investment for a handful of companies and mentored a former Miss Singapore in her cosmetics venture. Compared to Zuckerberg’s spendthrift reputation – driving an Accura and his modest home in Palo Alto, California – Saverin owns a luxury penthouse apartment, drives a Bentley and has a reputation for running Cristal Champagne-fueled bar tabs that can climb as high as $50,000 a night. Saverin still holds an estimated 2% of the company’s shares – which, considering that Facebook’s IPO could value the company as high as $95 billion, “can go a long way,” the Wall Street Journal reports. Forbes magazine estimates his wealth at $2 billion, ranking him the 634th richest person in the world, and recently included him in its list of “The World’s 12 Most Eligible Billionaire Bachelors.” Another co-founder of Facebook is Dustin Moskovitz, who edged out Zuckerberg as the world’s youngest billionaire in 2011, according to Forbes. Co-founder Chris Hughes, alas, appears only to be a multi-millionaire – but still rich enough to buy controlling stake of the venerable Washington magazine “the New Republic” earlier this year. The author was being ironic guys, he used the term 'spendthrift' as a toung in cheek refrence to Zuckerburgs auster lifestyle. Imagin stating a fact while rolling your eyes, in literary terms the technique is the equivilant. :) He did not mean it as a literal definiton of Zuckerburgs character.

Actually, the use of "spendthrift" was correct and not sarcastically. A word is defined by how it is understood. As a curiousity (because i thought 'spendthrift' meant cheap, tight with money) I asked around a bit. The majority in my rough poll (11 / 13, mostly less than 35 years of age) agreed with my definition. So who is correct? The dictionary or the people? I'd have to go with the dictionary. ... It is worth noting that one of the people who agreed with the dictionary is a foreigner who learned English in a class.
what does being Jewish have to do with anything? what factor does that play in a conversation? why would it matter what ethnicity the creators of Facebook are? I think the people who have negative comments to add about Jewish people clearly have a lack of self esteem. I guess you need to do whatever makes you feel better inside so that you can live another day without jumping off a building. My only angst with these guys is that I was clearly not smart enough to think of this idea myself.
With 2 billion dollars I'd be partying it up too. At 30, or even 50, with that kind of money, why settle down and get married? Oh yeah, I know: Money can't buy you love.
