Hong Kong (CNN) - The Angry Birds' red faces have been etched on bras, embellished on T-shirts, turned into stuffed toys and baked into mooncakes. China has a love affair with Angry Birds as both unofficial and official merchandise have boomed in the country. Rovio, the creators of the blockbuster game, will open game-themed retail stores and activity parks in China. It's the first country to get these parks and stores outside Finland, where the game originally hatched. The first retail store in China opens in Shanghai on July 3, and the Beijing location opens on July 10, where shoppers can find a bevy of merchandise featuring green pigs and furrow-browed birds. That park will be located inside the Sino-Finish Center design factory, which will invite the college students to help co-design future Angry Bird parks in China, according to a company release. "Instead of building one massive amusement park, we're planning to build hundreds, maybe even thousands of activity parks here in China," Peter Vesterbacka, Rovio’s chief marketing officer, told Xinhua. Rovio officially opened its Shanghai office last week, according to a company statement. Last year, the entertainment media company updated its Angry Birds Seasons showing the birds-on-pig attack at the moon festival, with pagodas and red lanterns in the background. Then, it came out with a Chinese New Year theme in the beginning of 2012 for Angry Birds Seasons. “We’re very excited about the opening of our first retail stores in China,” Vesterbacka said in a press statement. “We have a very active and engaged Chinese fan base, and we’re excited to continue expanding our presence and serving our fans even better.” |

Fad. Fad.
Don't last for too long.
wow big news
This won't last long. oh, and seriously? China is only noticing this just now? angry birds is so last season.
Never have, never will, give these people money.
Talk about money down the drain. Do these people think this fad will carry on for more than two
or three years? Or is that enough time to make a profit before Angry Birds are Retired Birds?
haha
In before china trolls bash it because they dont invent anything.
Biggest Facepalm right now.
I stok to see what will be constructed and how amazing it be
... why is this in an article at all? This could have been covered in a 30 sec commercial and still no one would have cared.
It's not a fad, it's a proven game type. Original versions were called artillery, and Wormz. lol Angry birds has been a round for a couple of years.
Atari: you need to slap some new ideas on your old game and market them in China.
It won't last that long
hey,Nothing lasts forever .That is the rule of the world. Angry Birds? maybe a little trend right now. but in a year, Chinese will never pay attention to angry birds.
oh, and I don't play them. it's too violent. birds killing pigs and laughing? doesn't help kids phycologicly.
Oh yeah? Most of the games that everyone play are all violent nd if you ask my opinion, I think that angry birds isn't that violent
Not only that but, the birds aren't killing the pigs for nothing. they stole their eggs. wouldn't you be mad if someone stole something that you loved ?
P.S:Nobody asked you to tell your opinion dude.
And not only that, but Rovio are making new birds too. Never heard of Angry Birds space huh? well I think that the birds in Angry Birds space are different enough from normal Angry Birds so that they could use them as different items.
Angry Birds bras? Whatever next!
