(CNN) - A new survey shows one in five Spaniards want to quit the euro and return to the peseta. Spain's "El Pais" newspaper published a poll from Metroscopia Sunday that found 21% want to leave the euro currency, which Spain abandoned a decade ago to join the eurozone. The poll also found that 72% of those polled believed the Spain, the eurozone’s fourth largest economy, would need a full bailout from the European Union, up from 62% a month ago, Reuters reported. The European debt crisis has prompted talk of troubled nations leaving the single currency. Some economists say that would boost competitiveness, while others argue the cost of leaving would outweigh any benefits. The poll comes after the European Central Bank’s last week outlined a bond-buying program aimed at Spain and Italy, which has struggled with unsustainably high borrowing costs earlier this year. ECB President Mario Draghi reiterated his pledge to do “whatever it takes” to preserve the euro. |

Leave it to CNN to make nonsense articles. Taking a poll at the rock bottom moment for Spain during this crisis is pure nonsense. Even then only 20% want to go back to the old currency which is actually very little. And even if you do make an article, it should read 70% is for the Euro. The majority speaks.
You can find more people in the US who want to start a war with Iran or teach Creationism instead of Evolution in US classrooms.
Most Europeans want the euro. If they didn't, they would vote massivly for extremist parties vowing to return to the old currencies and even to leave the EU if elected to power. I believe that most Europeans see the advantages of the EU & the euro, no matter the drawbacks there may be, especially right now. But this is just a temporary phase through which the EU has to go to become stronger in the long run, with balanced budgets, less debt, and more efficient governments & economies. Long live the EU & the euro! And it would be nice if cnn quit with the constant euro-bashing: no other serious news outlet has such a serious anti-euro bias. It sounds like some cheap British tabloid...
The sooner the Spaniards exit the euro, the better off they will be.Unfortunately, propaganda has contributed to the Spanish misery.
EC and ECB mind-control many politicians and business people in Europe. They
manipulate financial markets, require high interest rate, require low-price
privatization.
This is done with small implants in the head (sometimes involuntary)and
wireless technology. Essentially a sensor is connected to nerves and the brain
teaches itself to recognize the single in this way the thoughts of a person
can be received and also send to him/her. I found such device implanted in my
sinuses with FMRI. I studied at CEU – sponsored by Soros, and Rostowski, the
financial minister of Poland was teaching there (he is also mind contolled).
Behind Soros, actually are EC and ECB – the owners and beneficiaries of the
technology. It is not done for security, because I worked for the Bulgarian
National Bank and I was threatened with this technology to make credit
expansion for the bank cartel (CEU is teaching the central banks in CEE this
actually).
I also met Papademos at a Austrian Central Bank Conference, while he was in
ECB, and I believe he is also mind-controlled. It is probably that EC and ECB
will use the latest technologies to send some Greece financial minister in the
hospital as they control his mind – everybody is aware for the latest
technologies. It is the behavior of EC and ECB that should be clarified -
they would do anything for the billions Greece own them – but crimes should
also be punished. It is not a union, but a brutal mafia raising their
capital. The same is valid for Mario Monti.
Well said rightospeak.
The major problem is that the media have convinced the people both in Spain and in Greece (where I live) that the ONLY way to survive is being part of the eurozone. ANY other alternative, like printing money in your own currency is portrayed as dangerous that will lead to disaster... This way the people see no other way out but keep obeying the IMF/EU...
20% is hardly a mandate. In fact, probably over 20% of the people in Spain never wanted to be part of the Euro in the first place. CNN, is this supposed to be news???
Of course the Spainish would want to remain in Euro – sharing credit with another country is upside for those whose own credit is bad, and downside for the rich folk. I mean, would you like to share a credit card and bank account with a billionaire? Sure – I spend, they pay, who wouldn't want to stay in? The question is whether the Germans (who bear the downside) want to remain in and continue propping up failed economies by sharing their currency.
Or let Germany exit and print deutschemarks again, and then repeat the survey in Spain, that will be a more interesting question.
"EL PAIS" is a right wing newspaper. i believe that this so called survey is totally false and made to manipulate the brains of all spaniards and all the europeans. in this very moment what really matters to the spanish people is to have a descent life. the euro or peseta is just a token with the kings head. a few potato heads, especially from the popular party want to control all this propaganda. it is the same b.s everywhere.
also one other thing..... this so called survey must have been made in madrid if ever done. a city controlled by the rightists. you forgot all the other autonomous regions.
I beleive that those 21% are the ones who are 110%, without no doubt whatsoever, against euro as currency.
The ones who consider and WILL agree to quit euro as currency IF that will be an option, is close to 70%.
Oh well.....people dont see how much te EU help Spain in the last 20 years. Before join the EU (later the EURO) Spain was in really bad condition. EU made few mistakes, I agree, but the spanish people have to take responsability, they enjoy the good times without thinking in the days ahead
Let the Spaniards gooooooooooooooo! They were about the most backward countries 30 years ago. It is the Euro that made them. Let them go back to being the backward country Franco left them. Then I can go to Spain to vacation much more cheaply!
Why would Spain want to leave Euro? Now they've got someone paying their bills! All the Mediterranean countries are spending money like water and then send their bills to the rest of the EU.
Sounds good to me. I wish I had someone to pay my bills as well.
钓鱼岛是中国的,老美别插手,否则后果自负。Diao yu islands is belong to China ,Americans do not intervene,or Peril
With all due respect to El Pais, which is a great newspaper, the Metroscopia poll upon which they based their article is most certainly erroneous. There are far more than 20% of Spanish who want out of the Euro. My guess, based upon personal travels across the country and talks with a wide array of Spaniards is that the figure is closer to 50%.
And also, 5% -10% of Spaniards have already left the country because there are no jobs, thanks to the EU and common currency. A good portion of them go to Switzerland, where savvy job boards like http://www.qual.ch target high-value professionals for work in Switzerland. The major Swiss cities are now full of Spanish architects, IT consultants, engineers, financiers and managers. It's fair to say that one can add to the 'out of Europe' votes all the Spaniards who have already expatriated.
Absolutely agree Spain as well as other countries with EU/ECB gun to its head should leave. All EU/ECB is doing is supporting RICH, maintaining status quo for powerful families (.5% of population) so they can enjoy life as rest suffer.
STOP WORKING, BUYING, SUPPORTING. System will collapse from inside....

Hey there! Quick question that's totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when browsing from my iphone4. I'm trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. Cheers! Robbin Goal http://www.robinhoodchina.info
